What an incredibly classy guy. He was getting mobbed for pictures after the game and did it with a smile. Way to go Margus!

superstar in the making?

at any rate I thought the 2-pt conversion attempt to Margus was brilliant--he could be a hell of a tight end if he has any mitts at all!--too bad Padron sailed it on him but I liked the idea

Margus made a great jump for it. My entire section started going crazy when he came in. I think everybody knew where that pass was going.

While on the field after the game, a youngster was running around wild eyed and said, "he's 6'8" and I can't find him!! 6'8"!!"

I'm speechless. Absolutely speechless. Those of you who have been on here awhile or who have met me know that my youngest son is special needs. He has VCFS...Velo Cardio Facial Syndrome (look up Quinn Bradlee...he is the most well-known VCF individual). Think aspects of autism (awkward with social cues) coupled with learning disabilities and major health issues, but a phonographic memory (recalls everything he hears). He is the reason that I loathe the word "[deleted]" and I give a round of guff to anyone I see use that word on the board. It's a dad thing, and if you have a special child, grandchild, or buddy who has an issue or two, you get it in ways that others don't.

Here's the point of the back story: Margus Hunt, who could have just as easily run off with his team, stopped for a moment to give his gloves to children. Particularly, he tossed one up to my boys (I have two boys...the oldest has Jared Romo's armband from years ago). They didn't catch it the first time, and Margus comes over, picks his glove up, and hands it to my youngest.

@Margus: I don't know if he reads this board...but if he does, or if someone who knows him does, I want him to know that he has lifelong fans in my wife, myself, and my boys. His simple act, probably an afterthought to him, brought a 10 year old little boy (who is really 7 or 8 in his own little head) to new heights and a 40 year old man to tears to see his son soooo happy. He was a chatterbox through Snuffers and a two-hour ride home. "Margus Hunt is awesome. I will remember that moment forever! Daddy, I want a jersey like his. I love SMU." He refused to sleep, and he and his brother traded the glove back and forth as a keepsake all of the way home.

Margus, for that brief moment of happiness, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It means more to my son than anything you did on the field for your team. If that is the heart and soul of this Mustang team...if that is what June Jones and his staff have really given the Hilltop, then you and your team have a special gift, and I appreciate you sharing it my sons.

Good stuff.

Lots of great stories with this team.

BTW - did Margus break the NCAA block record yet?

Great story. I went on to the field the last 2 games with a 10 year old from West Dallas. The players were spending tons of time with kids, signing autographs, giving stuff to them...Taylor Reed gave my buddy a glove and Shawnbrey gave him an autograph. Kudos to SMU for making the field an event after games and making the field and players so accessible.

Margus was surrounded by kids and signing autographs when we went by him.

OC....thank you so much for posting that, a perfect ending to a perfect day. I have the privledge of teaching the "special needs" Sunday School class at my church. These kids bless me a heck of a lot more than I bless them, no doubt...thanks for bringing tears of joy to my eyes this day. Peace.

That is a wonderful story.
I loved the post-game set up yesterday. I agree that it really seemed like a giant family gathering on the field afterward with the players, their families, coaches and all the fans.
I got to talk to Margus and Padron...both class acts.
