Team MVP: Who ya got?

My vote would go to Shawnbrey McNeal. With all due respect to E. Sanders, Kennemer, Margus, McCann, Fleps, The Rock and Banjo, Shawnbrey put the team on his back yesterday in the second half of a game that we needed to win. He has single handedly turned our weakest link from last year's team, the running game, into one of our best assets. Credit also goes to the O-line too when the running game improves but from everything I have seen out of Shawnbrey this season tells me that our running game is now a force to be reckoned with because of his sheer speed, his vision and his elusiveness.
Thoughts?

McNeal indeed. But I do think we need an offensive and defensive MVP. Chase Kennemer has been strong all year. And I think Taylor Thompson played tremendous.

If we can have a defensive player category, I go with Kennemer. Some real big plays this year by an over achieving defense by many different players like Thompson and Moore, but Kennemer gave us a strong middle that stabilizes the rest of the defense. Having played the same position for SMU, I liken Kennemer's play to mine........ only he is good.
Offense- McNeal
Defense- Kennemer
Special teams- Hunt

Yeah if we do go by offense, defense and special teams then I'd go with McNeal on offense, either Kennemer or Rock Dennis on D. You can't count out the team's interceptions leader although Kennemer was just a model of consistency. I also have to give some love to Taylor Thompson for sealing the UTEP game and his stout presence in the middle all season. The defense to me was such a great team effort but I would have to say that Kennemer week in and week out was the most consistent player. So yeah, I'd go with Kennemer as defensive MVP.
SP Teams, it's Margus by a landslide.

Eric Dickerson, for getting June Jones to consider coming to SMU, and the Circle of Champions for getting him here.
As for current players, I'll go with the same guys many have mentioned here: McNeal, Sanders, Kennemer, Hunt ... and I'm tempted to add Taylor Thompson, who gets better and better every week.
Szymanski also gets a nod — he's been really solid this year.

I'd also like to throw out there that any time you have a team make a QB switch mid-season to a true freshman and still put a winning product on the field, your running game is doing something right. That's why to me, McNeal stands out individually above anyone else on the team, regardless of what side of the ball they play on.
Our defense greatly improved but we still gave up some yards, some points. But what struck me the most was that when we needed our defense to make a stop they came through nearly every time. They were a gutsy unit but not talented enough to singlehandedly win games for us. My point is that even though we had a better defense, we still needed to score a certain amount of points to win and be able to get them when we needed them. With the exception of the Marshall game we were able to do that and the reason why we were able to score enough points and when we needed them while having a true freshman at QB has a great deal to do with Shawnbrey McNeal.
That's why he stands out above anyone else to me.

Sterling Moore deserves consideration for the D MVP, but overall MVP is McNeal IMO.

Should be a 'no brainer' as above.

Not that he belongs in any mvp discussions, but I thought Matt Szymanski had a really solid season and kept us in some close games with his leg. He's a good kicker and that's important on a team that doesn't blow many teams out.

Offense - Co MVP's McNeal & Sanders
Defense - Sterling Moore
S. Teams - Hunt
Honestly we have so many possible MVP's this year. What a great change from past years!

It's pretty difficult to pick MVP's from 1-11 teams I would guess.....
