*MUST READ FOR EVERYONE - Especially Parents

Postby ponydawg » Mon Nov 30, 2009 11:01 am

I put this on the Football forum because everyone should read this, not to freak out, but just to keep an eye out.

At one of the last two Basketball Games there was a Sexual Predator trying to lure kids away.
He was in his forties and looked like every other dad there. He approached some 2nd graders at the game, said he was in town from California and that he liked to take pictures with cool people. He asked one of the kids if he would take his picture and then said lets go over to this neat spot on the other side of the gym. Luckily, a parent was close by and when they approached them the man took off. I am not posting this to scare, start an uproar, or get rumors going. Everyone should continue to take their friends and family to these great safe events, but we just need to be smart and keep an eye out and realize sickos are everywhere, even in the tiny bubble at smu.

As a parent, I would be furious if someone didn't tell me, or if something happened and I didn't post this, it would crush me. Again, this is not a everyone panic post, it is just a warning to be smart wherever you are, and maybe think about talking to your kids again about this sorta thing.

See you at moody on Wednesday, beat tcu!

Its the time of year when the creeps come out. Don't forget to watch the kids at the Mall, at the movies, and everywhere else.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

That is awful to hear. It seems like sickos and weirdos like to strike in places like SMU, where it's a bubble and people put their guard down a bit.

Reminds me of a time when I was outside the political science/law building on my way to class and some weirdo lady came up to me, ask me some question and started blathering away about how she had to get some money out of her sister and that she might kill her sister. This lady was talking really fast and she looked strung out (meth, perhaps? I can only speculate). Anyways, I told her "sorry I don't think I can help you." She gave me a hug and went away.

So yes, keep your guard up around SMU because there are those that will take advantage of the false sense of security the bubble provides. Keep in mind that the school in smack-dab in the middle of Dallas.
Larry Brown? We have Larry Brown? Cool!

You should file a report with SMU PD about this if it hasn't been done already. They have the resources to spread the word with flyers, emails, etc.

I was not involved in the incident, but the people who it happened to did report it when it happened......I just hadn't seen any emails or flyers or anything else, so I posted it here.
