I have not posted since the Tulane game because I am in a state of pure bliss. After so many years and with such low expectations for this team this year, a 7-5 bowl bound team is a dream come true.
These kids showed character and overcame many barriers. And they learned how to win.
I can't express how well they did or how remarkable their achievement. I do know that I can't wait to see them play on national TV in a bowl game.
Congrats to the SMU Mustang football team and have one heck of a great time at your well deserved bowl game.

When I read the title I thought you were going to say something about Dave Bliss but just put it on the wrong board.

I couldn't agree more. I have had a constant smile on my face for the last 2 days.
When I saw the title of your post, my first thought was, "Dave Bliss is in trouble again."
I can only imagine how former players like yourself must be feeling today. But we all bleed red and blue whether former players, band members, students etc. Those of us around for the glorious early 80's have it really put in perspective when you see how many of our fans weren't even born when we last played in a bowl.

86, I see we had the same idea about the same time!

Edited the title to reflect my state of mind, not some criminal coach.
The only thing as a former player that stands out is knowing what a blast these kids are about to have. A fabulous experince that few ever have the opportunity to enjoy. And no SMU player since 1984. These kids will have pride and stories for the rest of their lives and it thrills me that they have earned it.
We fans (faculty, staff, players, students, band members , alums) have endured one tragic season after another. Now, it is like fine wine that has been aged. It is a magnificent feeling that one only enjoys on rare occasions.
Hopefully, winning and going to bowls will no longer be like fine wine rarely served but something one expects with every meal!

Congrats on experiencing the best part of the no expectations approach to SMU fandom...the most pleasant surprise of all. I am right there with you brother.

Out of towm, holiday stuff. It bummed me not to be there, but family comes first no matter what. Was getting constant score updates from the fellas though.

I have tried to PM you but I seem to have issues actually getting the thing to work. Please send me your email if possible.
