I am strangely ambivalent....

about whether we lose or win the game in Hawaii. This is in contrast to the "Live or Die" attitude I have always felt about SMU football. I think the reason is I am so proud of our Mustangs, and so pleased that we are going to a bowl, finally, that actually winning the game, while nice, and something I certainly hope for, pales in light of what the team has accomplished.

Certainly, next year, and each succeeding year thereafter, when we have become used to going to bowls, I will be back in my old "Win or Die" attitude. But right now, I am in a blissful state of "We have finally arrived"...winning the game is just iceing on the cake.

I too am more concerned about our ability to build on this success next season than in the Hawaii Bowl. But I hope we win anyway.

Why would you think we would regress next season when we return so many key players and our true freshman quarterback has an extra month of practice, spring ball, then fall camp to improve? It would be a great shock to me if we didn't improve on what we did this year, especially with what looks to be a very strong recruiting class waiting in the wings.

staring at losing 3 of the first 4, which may be tough to overcome.

Granted, I hope that's not the case.

Log back on while we are lining up for the kick and tell us you still feel the same way. As a true fan, my guess is that you will have some pretty strong feelings regarding us winning or losing at that point. :D

I too am concerned about a let down next year. That will be a true test of June's coaching ability, and a reflection on whether we can stay as injury free as we did this year.

Non-conference looks tough but we have Tulsa and Houston at home next year. As far as conference goes we should be OK.

Losing 3 of the first 4? If that happens then, yes, this team regressed, however, here is my thinking.

TT - They are down right now, possibly a good game, but probably a loss. (0 - 1)
WSU - We beat them this year, just didn't finish the game. (1 - 1)
TCU - Yeah, we aren't there yet (1 - 2)
Navy - Really close this year. Unless we play in a monsoon. (2 - 2)

I see only 2 losses and possibly only 1 if we can start fast. Remember, TT never gets it going early.

2-2 to start the year is realistic and acceptable. May we create a tsunami of momentum that sweeps over our enemies!

As one who went to the Washington State game and watched us [deleted] it away, I want some serious revenge. I hope they don't buy out of this game.

i love how we are already looking at next year when we haven't even left for Hawaii yet..haha.

That being said, JJ broke this season down into parts and said we must go x-x in these games, etc. Assume he would do the same next year...

That’s because Mrydel has been subjecting you to his subliminal comments in regards to this.

I think we have a shot at beating TCU at home. Crazier things have happened.

I want to win the game. However, if we lose and it is within 3 - 7 points, while being personally crushed, I could somewhat live with it. But, if we get blown out on national TV it won't look good as far as recruiting.
