The WAC bowl picture is complicated and a Warrior loss could ease some anxiety. The WAC already has four bowl-eligible teams: Boise State (12-0), Nevada (8-4), Fresno (7-4) and Idaho (7-5) and the possibility of UH (currently 6-6) being No. 5. It has three guaranteed bowls and prospects for, maybe, five spots altogether.
Nevada is the most likely replacement for UH here with Fresno State likely headed to New Mexico and Idaho to the Humanitarian — unless champion Boise State gets left out of the BCS and pulls rank. For the Broncos a week in WaikÃkà might salve the disappointment more than, say, a stay in Albuquerque, N.M. or Mobile, Ala.

Come to think of it, Tulsa gave them a run for their money. How huge would beating Boise be?

With our secondary at full strength we could probably make a game of it and have a shot.
With Bell and Moore out..no freaking way. We've gotten better, but we aren't Boise St. good yet.

If we were to play Boise and beat Boise, it would have quite a huge ripple effect (like TCU beating USC in the Sun Bowl). It would show that we are now on the road back. Recruits would start to look at us twice. With Boise there is a tangible upside. With Nevada, Hawaii, and Fresno, other than the event itself, there is not any real upside. They are even match-ups. If all else was equal, I'd want Boise. And the players would be through the roof ready for Boise. Boise would of course have a chip on their shoulder with something to prove and it would be one heck of a test for us.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Agreed. We should all be cheering for Hawaii tomorrow night for many reasons. Hawaii would be a competitive game, it will get a lot of media attention, JJ knows that team and its staff inside and out. Not to mention, if Boise makes a BCS bowl we would get Neveda. Nevada is a team that will not draw any viewer interest and will probably beat us. Hawaii is who we want...period.

I would hope Honolulu would be Boise's El Paso.

I think Nevada would beat us by 2 TD's at least. Very tough running attack and good QB. I'm hoping for Fresno or Hawaii.

I really hope it's not Hawaii. I hope Wisconsin kicks their [deleted] Saturday night in Honolulu. And I could give a flip about the marketing angle with SMU playing Hawaii.
IMO, this should not be about June playing his old school mixed in with us returning to a bowl for the first time since 1984. I think that dilutes it.
This should be about SMU rising from the ashes, playing in a bowl game for the first time since 1984 and how much the loyal fan base has waited for it and how Jones got it to turnaround.
I'm in the minority on this, and I don't care if I get blasted for it. The constant Hawaii infiltration on this board is such a beatdown.
In my opinion, the more we can remove ourselves from the Hawaii angle, the better we're going to be. I know it's going to be there in some facet because Jones is moving back there after he's done coaching and his connection to the state vast. But we don't need it thrown in our faces day after day after day.
We need to do our thing. And they need to do their thing. And hopefully, never the two shall meet -- including in a non-conference environment.

Boise barely snuck by Tulsa. Have just a little bit of sack. I say bring it on.
Back off Warchild seriously.
