OT: ND Declining a Bowl Gameapparently the only two options were Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl and GMAC bowl but ND will not be going anywhere this year. Too bad they couldn't come to hawaii again...

Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameJust another reason to hate Notre Dame.....they think they are too good for just any bowl game! My two favorite teams on any given saturday are SMU and anyone who is playing Notre Dame. I hope this is the start of a long drought of bowl games for Notre Dame so they realize what it means to actually go to just any bowl. I feel bad for the players and fans more than anything....its such a mis managed program to begin with.
Cheers, Jetnfast
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameI agree. How classless is it that you would turn down a bowl game just because it isn't good enough for you? You were 6-6 you jacka$$es.
Screw ND
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameND sucks and they are too arrogant to attend a bowl that they consider to be 'beneath them'.....glad they suck...
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameBet their seniors appreciate this little gesture of gratitude from their administration.
PonyFans.com ... is really the premier place for Mustang talk on the Web.

Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameBottom line:
SMU would beat them again. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameBefore we all get worked up in ND hate, let us remind ourselves that Notre Dame's athletic director said that he would let the players vote on whether or not to go to a bowl game. It seems as if the players have voted to stay home.
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameI am not a ND fan, but in 89 or 90 we played them. It became obvious very rapidly that SMU could in no way compete. So ND stopped scoring at around 50 pt.s in the first Q or half. Would not score after that. Also no time outs were called by either team and the clock just ran. I did think it was a decent gesture on ND's part. The game was on national TV. They could have run the score past 100 without much of a problem.
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameND loses 4 Oline, clausen, and golden tate....they really could use that bowl game practice time for next year.
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameIn that game with ND after the DP, we had just come off the Houston debacle and Lou Holtz, the ND coach, told the team that any ND player who scored after the score was 50 something to nothing, would be kicked off the team. That's fact!
Long live Inez Perez!
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameI can't believe ND is declining a bowl bid. What a bunch of gutless losers. So much for their "great tradition and pride." That is a real kick in the shorts for them in my mind. They decline a bowl bid when a little over half the teams in the country don't get to go to a bowl game. Guess they were afraid they'd get beat on TV again? Gutless.
Larry Brown? We have Larry Brown? Cool!
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameNotre LAME.
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameThe only thing i like about ND was the movie Rudy. I despise ND and Texas. Every time i see orange in wal mart i want to vomit.
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl GameHmmm... not the way I interpreted that story.
I imagined a team in utter disarray with a somewhat historic second half of the season collapse and a head coaching change not thinking they could get ready to be competitive in a bowl. As much as I would have liked to see them get destroyed on national tv, I just didn't think the declining of the bowl bid as arrogant. I thought of it more "why don't you invite someone who deserves to go? we don't." And if that is the case, then the ND players and I agree. They don't deserve a bowl. Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.
Re: OT: ND Declining a Bowl Game
Rudy was offsides.
