Look what Happened while NOBODY was watching.

Other than a couple mentions, the media has reminded us that we are irrelevant. While I am pleased as anyone about going to a bowl, until we do it consistently and beat some good opponents, NOBODY cares.

I actually thought we would get more attention nationally, but most people forget things after 25-minutes, forget about 25-Years.

Lets hope JJ can continue to improve and put us on a national stage.

We are just relegated to a side bar....'Oh BTW SMU goes to a bowl game for the first time in 25 years'. But don't forget Temple out of Phili is going to a Bowl game for the first time since 1979 and they aren't getting much press either. Bless those guys as they were in a bigger long term mess than us and don't have anywhere near the donors as we have, except Bill Cosby. And really what do we expect anyway?

Prepare yourselves. It's going to be nothing but UT coverage in the DMN from now until the Rose Bowl. I wager that the DMN will have at least one UT story EVERY DAY (and maybe more!) leading up to the Rose Bowl. And how many SMU stories will there be leading up to the Hawai'i Bowl? Keep count.

We have had our share of DMN and local coverage lately. The early announcement was genius.

Why are you surprised?

While SMU and it's fans are overjoyed with this bowl game, SMU has been irrelevant on a big stage for 25 years now. It's not going to change overnight.

Texas playing in the National Title game, TCU playing in it's first ever BCS game and being the highest ranked non-BCS team (to end the regular season at least) in history doesn't really help SMU's odds either.

SMU's time will come. JJ is obviously improving things...we've just got to keep hope that it continues. As Pony_Fan said, announcing the bowl game a week early was genius.
