Virus from ad on this site

Postby The PonyGrad » Mon Dec 07, 2009 11:25 am

My AV just gave me my second alert while viewing PF in a week. Apparently this is some ad that contains a trojan. Just thought you may want to know and hopefully do something about it.

Pops ups are a real annoyance now. I don't want to make money working from home for Google.

Looking into it. Any more details would help (what virus, what popup).

If you are using firefox, look up a plugin called adblock. It is great

94 hit it on the head. The Dave's work at home blog is usually popped up somewhere when things go awry.

And my computer's not supposed to have to battle such demons...I'm a mac!

you downloaded and installed the add on? It's not the regular popup blocker that comes with firefox

AV software permitted "block connection" and when I clicked that the ad at the top showed a failure to connect error.

I've been getting the "Dave works from home" popup for a while now. This weekend, though, I got something worse when I clicked on the football forum--I started getting the SAME popup and it kept multiplying to where it opened like 40 new windows on my computer screen before I could shut it down. I kept closing the windows, but it would keep multiplying. I think the "website" that would popup kept saying something like "coachupdate.com" or something similar. I finally had to just shut my computer down. It has not returned thank goodness. My virus software hopefully got it, but I don't know.

Opened and closed the site multiple times and I am all good now. I used to get them from the DMN and now I don't.
