Hey Frogs, stick this in your pipe and smoke it.

In 83,way before all this BCS crap, the Ponies were the ONLY unbeaten team in the nation. There was one damn blemish on our record, a 17-17 tie with #8 Arkansas, coached by Lou Holtz. SMU went on to beat Pitt, who was also a Top Ten team led by Dan Marino, in the Cotton Bowl that year. The AP and UPI unanimously voted 11-1 Penn St. as the National Champions. Penn St. got trounced earlier that year by Notre Dame, who didn't even finish in the Top 20.
I'm still not over it. I guess it's TCU's turn to have to deal with the fact that there is no such thing as a level playing field in NCAA football. It's not fair, but like the saying goes... "The fair comes once a year for two weeks in October". Sorry frogs.

Not to nitpick (okay, to nitpick), but that trouncing came at the hands of Alabama. Can't recall if the Tide was ranked or not. TCU has a bigger gripe than SMU, they managed to avoid any blemishes.

At the same time though, there are other Undefeated teams to consider this year, whereas there were none in '83.

I feel for the Frogs. We got screwed and I don't wish that on anyone else except the Horns, Irish, Tide, Nittany Lions, Huricaines, Sooners, Trojans, Cornhuskers, Buckeyes, Wolverines, Bulldogs, Tigers, Bearcats, Panthers, Vols, Gators, Yellow Jackets, Seminoles, Ducks, Badgers, Spartans, Aggies, Red Raiders and Bears.

You're right, it was Alabama who beat them. By the way, the Tide also finished out of the AP top 20 that year. So once again, if you're going on strength of schedule...

Yeah but we can hardly compare the schedules of the old Southwest Conference VS the current Mountain West Conference though....big difference

Didn't Penn State beat #1 ranked Georgia in their bowl that year? That also may have had something to do with it.

Except that SMU did it against the Southwest Conference and Tarrant County U did it against the Mountain Worst.

Hurricanes get a 1 year exemption in my book since we got Shawnbrey from them.

life is tough as one of the "little guys" in college football.
I awoke this morning to read that TCU was voted #3 behind Bama and Texas in the AP, coaches and Harris polls...but still managed to fall to #4 behind Cincy in the BCS poll. What a shocker!
I do wish TCU had been given a shot at Florida and Boise a shot at Cincy...but that might not be good business for the cartel.

That would have been great for the cartel as the cartel would have probably gone 2-0. Florida is too much for TCU and Boise isn't on the same level as Cincy anymore.
