Looks like from previous years' photos that the spirit squads from both teams attend the Outback Pep Rally. Would be a shame if Nevada has cheerleaders there and we don't.

Spirit is on many different flights; it's possible that SMU might get a few cheerleaders there on time for it.

I think it is at the same time as the bball game, if we win, which is probably not going to happen. smumustangs.com has us losing our first game if you look at the times on the schedule - should they even show up for the game or just rest up and wait for the loser's bracket? Either way, you will probably be able to go to both the banquet and the bball game - assuming we lose.

Cheer is flying with the team on the charter flight Saturday. The band and pom come in on various flights Monday. I've heard about half of them will make it in time.

question about that charter: anyone know the range of a 737? I know the team almost always has a Southwest charter...this trip's a little farther...and no tv/movie on those SW jets either

Southwest does not have the certification to fly to Hawaii. I checked.

Their longest scheduled flight is BWI (Baltimore) - SAN (San Diego), about 2,400 miles. LAX to HNL is about 2,700. They almost always fly that route with one of the newer 700 series.

Boeing may have a 737-ER configured for another carrier that would have a longer range.

interesting.

edit: after reading 88;s post, I stumbled across this:

http://www.blogsouthwest.com/blog/why-n ... -to-hawaii

on another note..remember when Orsini came on board he hired SMU alum Richard Sweet away from SWA to head up marketing? We've come a long way on the field, but gone the other direction in the marketing dept...or lack thereof.

Does Sweet still go to games?
