SMU defensive coordinator sees big task ahead

UNIVERSITY PARK – As SMU opened practice Monday afternoon for the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on Dec. 24, defensive coordinator Tom Mason knew his work was cut out for him.

With SMU drawing Nevada as its opponent, Mason is facing his alma mater and his college coach in veteran Chris Ault.

Most important to Mason, the Mustangs are also facing the nation's top-ranked rushing offense.
