Odd that Syzmanski wasn't considered one of the top 4 punters in the conference, he had some huge punts that made a really big impact on games, and I like him a lot more as a punter than a placekicker.

The SMUMustangs.com version:

Kennemer, Sanders Named First-Team All-C-USA
13 Mustangs Earn 15 Selections To All-Conference Teams

Dec. 8, 2009

IRVING (C-USA/SMU) - Thirteen SMU Mustangs earned 15 selections to the 2009 All-Conference USA football teams, as selected by the league's 12 head football coaches, the league office announced today. Senior Emmanuel Sanders earned two first-team selections - being honored as a wide receiver and punt returner. Senior linebacker Chase Kennemer also made the first team.

Sanders has 91 receptions for 1,215 yards; both SMU single-season records. As a punt returner, he led C-USA with a 15.4 average. Kennemer led SMU with 126 tackles. His average of 10.5 tackles per game ranks second in C-USA and 13th nationally.

Sophomore offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum, Jr., represented SMU on the second team. Beachum started all 12 games at left tackle and has started all 24 games of his SMU career.

Ten Mustangs earned Honorable Mention, with senior Bryan McCann getting a pair of selections as a defensive back and kick returner. SMU had three honorees on offense - Shawnbrey McNeal (RB - 1,125 yards and nine TDs rushing and 24 catches for 230 yards and two TDs), J.T. Brooks (10 starts at right tackle), and Josh LeRibeus (12 starts at left guard). Eight SMU defenders got a nod, including McCann (53 tackles, three interceptions), Rock Dennis (57 tackles, four interceptions), Pete Fleps (74 tackles), Youri Yenga (49 tackles, five for-loss, two sacks), Taylor Thompson (39 tackles, 4.5 sacks), Marquis Frazier (41 tackles, four sacks), and Margus Hunt (7 blocked kicks - second-highest total for a season in NCAA history, 1.5 sacks). McCann earned the special teams selection for SMU (33 KOR, 808 yards, 24.5 yard avg.).

WOW, Two National Awards and Mitch Enright gets left off this list.

Think about the difference with him and the O-line play.

Glad some of the young ones made it but this is just weird.

Congrats to all of these guys but that Honorable Mention list seems a bit excessive. Is it really an honor if they give it to that many folks? (Not meant as anything against SMU - are all of the conference honorable mention lists so lengthy???)

You know you could research that yourself rather than coming on here to ask.

One vote earned Honorable Mention, and I think moms were allowed a vote.
