http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=4735336Can't wait to see TCU strap on its 10 inch stilletos and shake its @ss like a whore at the Moonlight Bunny Ranch for a chance in yet another conference where its closest competitor is 2000 miles away.

Notre Dame or Pitt are the only two candidates that make any sense...if they want to strengthen the conference
If you just want 12 while staying in the region, take the best fit from the MAC
Louisville might be another school to consider

Missouri -- Has the academic scene the Big Ten desires and a pretty solid athletic program. Also in a different state.
West - Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois & Northwestern
East - Purdue, Indiana, Michigan St., Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State
I think the courtship with Notre Dame is over. Several Big Ten schools have a history of playing of playing Pittsburgh and it would work, but I get the sense it won't happen.
There's also been speculation about Iowa State but the Cyclones don't bring the value the conference wants. If it ever became Missouri then TCU needs to update the resume for the Big 12.

Joe Paterno has said publicly he wants Pitt. He has been possibly the biggest proponent of getting the 12th member.
The academics in the conference have said publicly they want Missouri.
If Notre Dame changes their minds, this discussion ends then.

If Mizzu leaves that opens up a big 12 spot...

can't think of one solid reason why Missouri would join. They already have OOC rivalry with Illinois where they play annual football and basketball games in St. Louis. Big money maker and visibility for both schools. They have rivalry with Kansas which is historic, plus I'm sure they like playing Nebraska in football. The Big 12 already has good academics, a championship game etc. Not to mention Mizzou can recruit much better in Texas and in the south as Big 12 members. All adds up to nothing in it for Mizzou. The big 10 has to give up on the idea that the 12th member is going to be accretive in its own right. Its the championship game itself that is accretive, not who you can realistically add as a 12th.

I can think of one reason Missouri might bolt...when was the last time they were really relevant in Big 8, Big 12 in football? Champions? Other than last year I with Chase Daniels, I can't really remember a Missouri team. Against lesser competition they might be able rise above their history.

I would hate to see them take Pitt and start a realignment again. Why not Temple? Get even more of the Philly market. Good academics and it would slap the Little East again. Didn't they kick them out? Of course Pitt or Temple makes an East/West split difficult.

You can't think of a reason? How about CASH. Big 10 despite being a lousy football conference pulls in the big bucks. I think Missouri just might be interested.

Pitt is good now. Not necessarily strengthens.
Louisville is a commuter school.
B11 would/could take:
nd
Pitt
cuse (bball!!)
missou
nebraska
If miss or neb leave, b12 asks ark. And they should accept bc they haven't been shith since they left tx recruiting

The entire conversation about academics in any major football conference is a joke. Nobody involved in any discussions about football allignments gives a rats a#% about academics. They'll give it lip service only - to placate only.

UA had not been that bad. They have been in the SEC Championship game a couple of times in the last few years. And their Texas recruiting will pick up now that they are playing an annual game at Jerry World against A&M. They are getting some good Texas athletes this year. Does not mean they would not leave the SEC but they are doing just fine where they are and IF Mallett returns next year they will be very good.
