I wish that Orsini would be proactive on this

There have been many coments on another thread about conference re-alignments. This appears to be a real oportunity to increase visibility, establish new rivalries and reduce costs for SMU. A revised and renamed MWC including some of the western division teams from C-USA that are serious about all sports would seem to accomplish this.
But SMU should not wait on this to happen to us. If we can "force tha issue" then SMU would lead rather that being the victom, the role that we have played since the death penalty.

Excellent point. SMU needs to make a big move when the opportunity arises.

i think the best we can hope for is an invitation to MWC and hopefully this conference will include Boise St & keep TCU.

I'm holding out for a 14 team SEC inviting TCU and SMU to fight Big 12 for DFW media and recruiting.

And I'm holding out hope at age 28 that Santa is real.
Who do you think will be more disappointed?

At least you can look at the mall Santa and dream... When's the last time we played an SEC team in any type of game ever?

I really dont think we are ready for a major confrence yet. Big 12 or SEC competition would kill us. I think the MWC with TCU and Boise St. would be best. It would give us tough competition but allow us time to grow and remain competaitive.

I'd think no because they already have Vandy, and dont want any more small private schools.

Yeah, at first, but recruiting would be much improved.
I don't think we'd be doormats forever.

SEC? Are you people high? Good lord.
A 12-team expanded MWC would be ideal, if (and that's a big if) we could get in. Assuming they don't lose anyone, there would be three slots available. Boise St. would undoubtedly get one. The other two would be fought over by us, Houston, Tulsa, UTEP, Nevada, and Fresno State. I don't know if we could swing that.

need to deal with reality here...we aren't attractive to anyone outside of CUSA right now.
let's see if we can build top 25 football/bball programs and find a way to fill Ford/Moody. Then you can start all this fantasy talk
