small fan participation expected from both teams. Nevada travels very light, maybe a 100 strong. SMU expected to bring 500 fans not including its school delegation-band, pep squad, etc.

Nevada is contracted to sell 5,000 ticets while SMU must sell 10,000. The article never stated why SMU must sell twice as many tickets? Can anyone answer this question?

My guess is that is part of the deal to get the bowl for CUSA.
