Hawaii Bowl Attendance

Postby GeorgiaMustang » Thu Dec 24, 2009 12:58 pm

Has anyone seen any projections on the attendance for the game tonight? Is there any chance the game is full?

Naw the game ain't sold out, I roughly predict around 27,000-30,000 in attendance since Hawai'i ain't in the game.

a Hawaii news reporter said 30,000 tickets had been sold. I wouldn't expect near that many to show up-some Hawaii fans buy tickets to support the Bowl because without it Hawaii might not have a bowl option. I do think it will be very interesting to see the Hawaii's fans reaction to June Jones

The cameraman must have had his back to the crowd. Stands looked pretty sparse to me. Wonder how the bowl turned a profit?

The fans were decked out in white and orange so they looked like seats

They kept showing the endzone with about 6 people in the stands. It gave it that 'home game' feel.

I've been to a lot of games there, when the team is doing well in a big game it really gets LOUD. JJ's previous Hawaii Bowl game (when Hawaii beat Arizona State in 2006) was very, very loud. I was glad to be at that game with my parents.

they must have showed the wrong side of the field as we on the SMU, sunny side, were strong and proud and loud at the game...it was awesome!

ya, while the main SMU section wasnt really in the main field shot, they kept scanning over it after big plays and it looked a really solid/loud/fun crowd. We definitely appeared to have way more fans, it was a 3 hour showcase for our program and a huge SMU lovefest. We couldnt have asked for better PR than we got, it all went perfectly.

also, I just looked back at the 07, 08 attendance for the Hawaii bowl. ECU vs. Boise st. was at around 30,000 fans, and Hawaii Notre Dame was only at 43k, you'd think the '08 hawaii bowl would have been packed...kinda puts it in perspective, I definitely thought our fans showed up
