I almost made it through 2009 without a mistake...

but I was wrong. I said early on not to expect a win because the kids would be so distracted and starry eyed by the excitement of a bowl game. To top that off, Nevada has been to a bowl the last 5 years and is used to it. But boy was I ever wrong. Kudos to the coaches for getting the young men prepared to play. Regardless of the outcome, should this become Holiday Bowl the Sequel, they were still very prepared on both offense and defense and I am very proud of the this team.

with our being heavy underdogs and playing a team that was billed as more physical than SMU would be, I was hoping for a Holiday Bowl repeat with our winning this one late. When Nevada lost 5 contributing players, it had to affect their psyche coming in. That's OK...it's all part of the character of your team. I'm very proud of these guys and I'm sure coach Ganz is smiling down on them right now. Special teams have been special today, too.

So far we have not needed to use our secret weapon to block a FG or an extra point. He is concentrating on rushing the QB.
