Takeaway from interview:

- He really wants a practice bubble.

- A&M is trying to buy us out. If that happens he wants Hawaii to fill that spot. May play Hawaii next year depending on how that shakes out.

- Apparently Coach McKnight is quite the party animal, JJ didn't want to elaborate.

- JJ has no idea what it costs to attend SMU. During the interview he said it costs $65k a SEMESTER. Although outrageous, I believe someone posted the other day that next year's tuition, room and board would be $49k...

- He continues to throw out crazy numbers and assertations:
1.Greece spent $800 billion on Olympic security?
2.Olympic committee just decided recently where the 2012 Olympics would be (I'm guessing he meant/thought 2016). JJ was saying he thought Hawaii could have gotten the Olympics if they had built a new stadium.

I have never been crazy about practice bubbles, but I guess if JJ thinks he needs one, he needs one. If you haven't watched this video it is very interesting. JJ made some interesting observations about recruiting techniques, and told the interviewers that we are competing with OU and Texas for players. Although technically true, I don't think we have stolen many players that either of those schools were truly serious about in the past 20 years. But it was GREAT to hear JJ make that observation. He also had some interesting comments about Orsini, and how SMU is positioning itseflf for future re-alignments, and he seems very ambitious about getting the Ponies on national TV on a regular basis.

Leila Wai > Kate. She is delightful. Can't believe smupony94 wasn't immediately captivated by her. How about the June Jones Show with Leila Wai brought to by the Dallas Morning News

She's the interviewer reading the questions in that 20 minute segment linked on this thread

I've had lunch with her twice and she is a very, very nice person too. Her Mom is really nice also. She played soccer at Hawaii before becoming an excellent videographer. All the videos that cover the Hawaii football team are done by Leila and that extra coverage has always been first rate. She never appeared on camera until the Warrior Beat show, but she did an amazing job behind the camera for years before that.

With regards to the IPF, June said "we have one on the docket"...

I hope this really is in the works, it would be huge for the team and for recruiting.

apparently they call her Princess Leila over there. But its one thing to take Jones-its probably bad manners to steal their Princess Leila after all the hospitality they showed as hosts this week.

I would HATE it if the Princess left Hawaii! I cannot explain how nice it is to have the daily video coverage of the football team that is available for free from the Advertiser! Full coverage of the Pro Day for each Hawaii player is awesome--you get to see all of their workouts and get a lot of interviews. Full preseason coverage with a discussion of the players at each position, with interviews and behind-the-scenes stuff for every position, is awesome. Having it all available for free on a site where all recruits and all parents of Hawaii players/recruits can watch is really valuable.

She seems to get all the players to really be open with their answers in the interviews, and even gets the players to interview each other that gives you a peek into their personalities and chemistry. I still remember when she was able to video Reinbold talking during a position meeting for the DL (the position Reinbold coached at Hawaii)...Reinbold's message during that meeting was that the members of the DL were not just representing themselves, but also representing the past players who had played their position. He brought up a number of the former players (many of whom had long NFL careers) and really communicated his message well.

I like where this conversation seems to be heading....

I'm not sure Leila Wai could handle 'smupony94's' mad game.
