Some one needs to work this angle

Legend has it that the Ford Mustang was named after the SMU Mustangs. I know it is debatable. Two stadiums in this country are named Ford, that I know of.

If SMU needs $, why not hit up Ford Motor. They will be awash in $ soon, if this recovery works out. A perfect fit. Get three Mustangs on the field, red white and blue, 2 real mustangs and a pony. I guess SMU would have more mascots than anyone ever.

SMU has traditionally run a variety of campaigns / promos with the North Texas Ford Dealers, to include featuring a Mustang...not sure we have ever taken it all the way to Detroit...Big boys in Mo'town will probably want / need more butts in the seats / national exposure / etc..?

Why do you think Ford Motor Company will be awash in cash soon?

Market share, CEO, Crammer say's they will be the largest auto co. in the world in a few yr.s. Profit already, world wide co. Last American auto co. and the list goes on. Hook up with them, both are on the same rocket. And they have the MUSTANG, and FORD FIELD. SMU has Ford field, and a ton of Mustangs. Forget T. Boone Pickens. Or at least add to it.

Ok, I'll buy that argument.

I always wondered why a Convertible Mustang Lease wasn't a part of the employment package for Recruiting Coaches.

I know, I knew I should not have included him. But the numbers don't lie. The logic is correct. If the economy comes back.
Ya know they/many laughed at SMU, we know how that is turning out.

For the record, I pitched the basic concept to Orsini a year ago. Get a '66 red convertable Mustang (SMU won the SWC in '66 & it would be cheaper than a '65), fill it with co-eds and have it fly out of the tunnel. Basically, the same concept as the ramblin' wreck from Georgia Tech, which is why I thought he'd be interested. I think he has had enough mascot drama for the near future.

Well GM is pretty much over. SMU and FMC along with the Lions, make a fit made in heaven. The Lions have to pull up the game. Seems to me that FMC and SMU could help each other. I don't have any skin on the table. It just makes sense. I have driven every type of car, from a Datson, Chevy,Pontiac and yes a MUSTANG. I would much prefer Bill Ford donating a few Mustangs to T. Boone Pickins donating anything.

If GM is over, why did you take your hard-earned money and invest in it?

Unless your talking taxes, I didn't. Wish I would have bought F for a dollar. Should have taken every thing I have, sold it and bought F for a dollar. I could probably donate some mascot to SMU. You could see me with W. on the field. I could pontificate, I could be a great leader, I could have admiration from the elite, I could be sitting in a box seat, I could have my own jet. My point in all this is, SMU and FMC do have a bunch of things in common. Put the 2 together, really, put the 2 together and you have a win win. Isn't there a business major on this board. If I am wrong, tell me why.

When Mike Ford was QB we did have promotion with Ford. I was not in Dallas at the time so do not remember all the particulars but it was a tie in with SMU/Mike Ford/and I believe a local Ford dealership.
