Alright. All the news organizations are doing their TOP 10 (WHATEVER) OF THE DECADE.

So, let's do a TOP 10 S.M.U. FOOTBALL MOMENTS OF THE DECADE.

My choices:

S.M.U. wins the 2009 Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl.
S.M.U. hires June Jones to be new HC in January 2008.
S.M.U. defeats #24 T.C.U. at Ford Stadium, 2005.
S.M.U. opens Ford Stadium on Sept. 2, 2000.
S.M.U. defeats Big 12 opponent Kansas in inaugural game at Ford Stadium, 2000.
S.M.U.'s Bobby Chase catches the game-winning TD over UAB with :03 remaining, 2005.
S.M.U. redshirt freshman QB Justin Willis breaks the single season TD record held by Chuck Hixson in a 37-27 loss to Houston, 2006.
S.M.U. RB Kris Briggs sets school record for longest rushing TD with 96-yd. run against Tulsa, 2002.
S.M.U. DB Jonas Rutledge breaks single game and career kickoff return records against UTEP, 2003.
S.M.U. defeats UAB to end road game losing streak at 15, 2009.

Top 3 Events
Building Ford Stadium
Changing the 'Model'
Circle of Champions hiring JJ

Top 3 Games
2009 Hawaii Bowl
2009 victory over UTEP
2005 victory over TCU

for the record, that ridiculous 90 Greatest moments in SMU history which had 25+ ‘moments’ occurring in the past 20 years….well, besides the 3 games above, the only games earning a top 90 nod IMO are the Kansas and Miracle games and both are due mainly to their historical significance.

Top 3 Moments
Bobby Chase catch
Big Drop-off after that.....but the McCann blocked FG return versus Rice this year gets my #2 moment.
for me, personally....Bartel versus LA Tech @ Ford was special and therefore my #3 moment will be his TD pass to John Hampton.

No question the 2009 Hawaii Bowl win was the greatest moment in SMU Football history in the past 25 years. The national stage, the decisive butt-kicking win, the ESPN TV loops of Padron and 45-10, and all the news articles. HUGE. The best part of it all is that our program is still living in that moment and will until the 2010 season opens. Even if it all implodes next year, for a moment and in an instant, the national collegiate football world was slapped in the face and forced to wake up and take notice of SMU.

I think the SMU game at UH in 2005 with us winning via a last second field goal is one of the top 5 games of the decade. Back and forth all the way with our kicker nailing a long distance field goal as time expired!!!
