Aldrick Robinson - wow

Postby The PonyGrad » Mon Dec 28, 2009 11:22 am

Hey, I have complained or commented from time to time on AR's tendency to drop balls but in the Hawaii Bowl, wow. He grabbed everything, even ridculously difficult catches. Very impressive.

It gives me great confidence in the WRs for next year knowing that AR will be there.

No doubt about it. Aldrick looked awesome in Hawaii. I hope that's a preview of next year for him! I agree that he was frustrating at times this season. . .like he wasn't concentrating. Although he had only limited action and was battling injuries, I felt the same way about Darius Johnson. I remember he dropped an easy screen pass against Navy in the first half that should have been a big play. Only saw him get one ball in Hawaii and I think it was a loss. I hope next year is a breakout season for Darius.

IMHO, Robinson is a bit of a thoroughbred in that he plays a speed game... He's at least a half step faster than any defender, so he's using that to get open. With his injury, I don't think he was quite 100%, so he didn't have that half step for much of this season.

But when he's on, boy is he ever a DC's nightmare. And as far as I saw, he caught everything that came his general direction. With Padron's superb touch on the long ball, I'm hoping for a breakout senior year for Robinson.

I agree that he played a great game, but I also have to point out his early celebration on Beasley's 71-yard grab on the second play from scrimmage. He really should have been trailing the play rather than pointing to the stands. Even given that (which I won't hound on as I understand his excitement level), he is a huge asset moving into next year. I don't see him getting less than another thousand yards next year.

I can't remember him having a better game, ever. And that one catch near the sideline where he twisted around and grabbed it over his shoulder might be the best catch of the season by any SMU receiver.

Yeah, that catch was sick. I watched the game again last night and had forgotten how well he adjusted to the ball on that one.

The tougher the catch, the more likely it seems for AR to catch the ball. Actually glad to see he caught some easy passes.

Al was great I was happy for him. But now you know you weren't suppose to be celebrating for the play ended. LOL

agreed saw that play - live and learn - could have been a td if he stayed in the play.

but also, his catches (plus cole beasly td0 were amazing - a great game for him
