I have heard from some friends how Art Briles is going to be the main candidate for the HC job with Leach being fired. What do yall say the chances are that this happens? Briles is a west texas guy who got his start at tech and said it would be his dream job

Well, I always think it is best to take the job when offered. You never know what the future holds. I always used the So. Miss. Jeff Bower example and Jason Garrett. Opportunities are not always going to be there and while you may be the flavor of the month one year; you may be "exposed" the next and find the job offers have dried up and then the masses start calling for your head.
On the other hand, I view the Tech situation as an impossible one. How many times does a coach replace a legend and be successful or be given any kind of patience? Off hand, I can't think of one. Tech fans will be expecting a BCS bowl game in two years or view the new coach's tenure as a failure.

I am pretty sure PB and legend do not go together...at least not in a positive way.

I don't think Tech can afford the buyout of Briles from Baylor. I still think Sonny Dykes. I also think if Brooks doesnt return, Leach will be at Kentucky. If so, good for him. Lexington > Lubbock.

As I said in another thread, Gary Patterson would be a name that might give the Tech alums excited. If I saw him leaving frogland, Tech would be a school that might get his attention. Sumlin might also be a person of interest to the Sand Aggies. I don't see Baylor letting Briles leave to an in-conference school.

I would sure rather go to Lexington than Lubbock.

WHY would GP even consider leaving TCU for TT? money? no. chance to play in BCS Bowl? nope. doing that now. Lubbock>Ft. Worth? no.
I think it's Sonny Dykes. I hope Sumlin stays at Houston. we want a strong conference.

I'm sorry, but ANYONE who thinks that Gary Patterson would leave TCU for Lubbock is completely delusional.
