I attended a Liberty Bowl game back in the late 80s. Night game and it was about 17 degrees at the end of the game. That was the year we had a cool front come through Memphis and it got down to -5 degrees one night.

And to think that there were some of us that wanted SMU to be in that.

That sounds balmy to me! Even the wind chill is more than 25 degrees warmer than where I am right now. I wouldn't mind watching me some Ponies in 20 degree weather today!

I'm sure our receivers and QB would.

As wonderful as Hawaii was for this year, the Liberty Bowl, until things change, has to be our goal every year. Not only does it signify CSUA Champion, but it also provides for much more extra practice time than did the Hawaii Bowl. Now, if we can bypass it and go staight to the BCS Bowls, I would be happy also.

I wish the Mustangs were playing there, I would be warm in my new S.M.U. coat.

I did. That would mean we beat Marshall and than ECU. Again. That would make us 9-4, not 7-5. I'd rather have at least nine wins in a season.

Pardon me but some of us would have preferred the Liberty Bowl because that would have meant we won the conference championship. We would have been representing CUSA as the champions because that's where the champion goes. I'm repeating for those with comprehension deficiencies.
What is so hard to understand about this? Some of you have got your heads so far up Jones' [deleted] it's baffling. As I said last week, I'm thankful to him for changing things here (even though what I like offensively differs from him) but we're in the business of winning titles. It didn't work out but we were ready for Hawaii and we played great. I was never so proud. But the goal should be Memphis every year.

We should be aiming for a BCS bowl.

I think that next year and for a year or two more JJ will set the goal to be the Liberty Bowl instead of the Hawaii Bowl. After a conference title or two, the goal will be raised to a BCS bowl. The players will need to feel that the goal is reasonable for it to work as a motivational tool.
