AUSTIN
– Texas starting sophomore cornerback Cedric Griffin and backup sophomore quarterback Matt Nordgren of Bishop Lynch have been charged with misdemeanors after a student accused them of confronting him outside a dormitory last month.

Nordgren, 21, was charged with criminal mischief, and Griffin, 20, was charged with interference with an emergency phone call. Both are Class A misdemeanors punishable by up to a year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit filed by the University of Texas Police Department, the incident occurred on Sept. 21 at about 3:30 a.m.

According to police, the players drove up behind another student who was parked in front of the Jester Center dorm, and began a verbal altercations. Nordgren is accused of kicking the student's vehicle, causing damage to the car.

When the student exited his car and attempted to call police, Griffin is accused of knocking the phone out of the student's hand. The players weren't immediately available to comment on Tuesday.

The charges will be reduced to a parking ticket and the fine suspended.

If the Unabomber were a UT football player instead of life he would have gotten 20 hours community service working in the Post office.

There are two things that will never, ever be found in a court of law when UT athletes are charged. That is the truth and justice.

Maybe they could punish them to a daily reading of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette sports section. But then again that would be too cruel even for a tu player.

Mrydel,
The idea is to let them off, not torture them.

I think it's a bit naive to presume that UT football players, who graduate at a NCAA-second worst 19% rate from a school with a panoply of gimme majors to take, can read.
