Watching UT-AL only reminds me of what an [deleted] Mack Brown is

Interviewed Mack Brown following his UNC squad taking on SMU at Owenby circa 1993 and the entire postgame comments focused around the fact that his team could not "get up" to play a team like SMU and that they should not have even been on their schedule (a heavily favored UNC barely beat Ramon Flanigan and SMU that day). He also complained (rightfully so) about the facilities and would not comment about the actual game.
I walked away from that with the impression in the title of this thread.

No, I think Mack Brown is a class act.

I was at that UNC game. Mack also said afterward that if the Tarheels had lost, it would have severely set back their program.
To me, that means he doesn't get the UT job.
So close .....

God Bless Mack Brown. Very easy for those to take cheap shots at those who have been and are successful including Brown, Pete Carroll, Urban Meyer, etc...
These guys understand the territory. Envy will get their critics nowhere.
Thanks, Mack for a great season. Looking forward to another run 2010.

I had Bama winning the game for the simple fact that Nick Saban was their coach and Mack the car salesman was ut's coach. Neither coach really distinguished themselves but Mack did the better job last night imo.............

I don't understand how anyone could have watched the whole game and not come away with the impression that Saban is a complete @$$.

The only thing you need to know about Nick Saban and the type of person he is is when he left Michigan State to take the LSU job, a private plane was sent up to East Lansing to bring down the assistant coaches who wanted to come with him.
The plane returned empty.
I think many of us know that story.

I am simultaneously disgusted by, and yet sympathetic to, anyone who works for DeLoss Dodds, the architect of the SMU troubles with the NCAA in the 80s and of the dismantling of the SWC.
Saban? That stupid fake punt on their opening drive was nothing more than an egotistical coach risking victory for the sake of being the big star on Sportscenter.

Agreed.
He doesn't have many friends in East Lansing, Baton Rouge, or Miami.

can't speak the truth around overly sensitive SMU fans. Do you remember what a dump Ownby was...and where the visitors dressed? Bush league for a school like SMU

That's why I said that I agreed on that one. Mack was thoroughly p#ssed that he had to walk his team accross the street at halftime and let me (a junior at SMU) know about it.
The excuse of not being "up" for SMU because they were beneath the all mightly UNC football program is the issue I had. That and the fact that nothing that he said post game was relevent to the actual game.
Again - one instance - but I have dealt with a lot of coaches - college and pro - and he is the #1 a hole in my book.
Of course - I ahve to add - I never met Leach.
