Tennessee courting Gary Patterson?

Postby George S. Patton » Wed Jan 13, 2010 5:05 pm

Friend of mine just called me to say he heard on 103.3 FM that Tennessee has people in Fort Worth to talk to Gary Patterson.

Apparently, he heard this on Randy Galloway's show.

Has anyone else heard this?

I don't see any real validity to this. Patterson seems like a loyal guy and just signed a longterm extension with TCU. However, it would be awesome if true! Also what kind of buyout are we looking at here w/ Patterson?
Back off Warchild seriously.

Patterson has never had a buyout clause.

Jones nor Patterson would go to Tennessee.

ModelT...whats that mean? Not being a smart-azz...just wondering what this "loyal" means
everyone seems to be tossing around these days with all the coaching changes?
Demonizing guys that leave places.

Is Joe Paterno "loyal" to Penn State or is it more he found a comfort zone he knows
he can't find somewhere else? If offered the Miami Hurricane job 15 years ago would
Papa Joe not have left Penn State for the Canes 15 years ago out of "loyalty" or
because he knew he would most likley be miserable there?

Would Bowden stay at Florida State so long if he hated the people he worked with
just so he would be "loyal"? I doubt it.

I don't think it so much Patterson is "loyal" to TCU, I think he found a nice comfort zone
for him and his family and he may know going somewhere else could turn into a nightmare
in so many ways....in other words....in my mind....it isn't "loyalty" that keeps these guys
where they are....enough of the false pedestal of "loyalty"...it's they like their job...they
dont wanna be anywhere else...money...prestige...spotlight isn't always what every single
human being seeks...sometimes "peace of mind" is more important.

he pretty damn loyal-he has turned down all kinds of opportunities at higher profile programs

I don't think it's loyalty....I think he likes his comfort-zone...he doesn't
wanna be at "higher profile programs"....everybody is not motivated by "higher profile".
You guys pretending these guys are some kind of "loyal to the end Captains going down
with the Titanic" is ridiculous. These guys simply love where they are at...their family
may be happy....their kids....they like the community...whatever....they're happy...and
no amount of more money or more bright lights interests them....not out of loyalty ...it's
because they enjoy what they do right where they are.
