David Cutcliffe To Coach Tennessee Football

WFMY-TV in Greensboro is reporting that Duke head football coach David Cutcliffe is the new head coach at Tennessee. No official announcement has yet been made by the University of Tennessee.
Cutcliffe was the offensive coordinator at Tennessee prior to taking the job at Duke in December of 2007.
This comes after Lane Kiffin left Tennessee on Tuesday night to take the head job at Southern Cal.
Another school in the state is losing its head football coach as well. East Carolina coach Skip Holtz agreed today to leave Greenville to become the head coach at the University of South Florida.

Who will be the first to start the Jones to Duke scuttlebutt? After all, that was one of his preferences when he took the SMU job...

I think we will be okay on that one. I think Cutcliffe is the only one that would take the job.
Interesting note: According to the messages boards at Duke and Tennessee, the people at Tennessee are sick that they got him and the people at Duke are sick they lost him.
The Duke fans seem to want Kevin Sumlin and if they can't get him then Mike Leach.

Sumlin and Leach wouldn't touch the Duke job with a broomstick and rubber gloves. That's a worse job than SMU. Unless they've made some major changes recently, that school has got their heads so far up their butts when it comes to football, it's not even funny

have to shake your head...I know Cutcliffe coached Peyton at UT then Eli at Ole Miss, but Ole Miss fired him..so that's the best UT could do?
On the other hand, this sucks for Duke. They had become more competitive from the time Cutcliffe got there. Their recruiting class this year looked pretty good, from the verbals they'd gotten.
