McNeal GOING PROAccording to the DMN...

Re: McNeal GOING PROShawnbrey, we hardly knew ye
Re: McNeal GOING PROI hate to say it, but I think this is a mistake. I understand about the money situation. But my fear is that Shawnbrey will not be drafted until the 5th round or later and then he could enter training camp as a 4th or 5th RB.
But that's his call. With that said, does Butler step up? Does Darryl Fields start immediately? Time for Coach to figure out the RB spot. SMU Grad 1996 - Worked in SMU athletic recruiting office under Forrest Gregg and Bill Weidner from 1992-1997.
Re: McNeal GOING PROsince when are SMU fans all giddy with a kid who basically decided to blow off all his academic requirements so he can turn pro. Because he scored a lot of touchdowns and rushed for a lot of yards? Great year Shawnbrey but you are letting YOURSELF and the team down because you didn't focus on your own responsibilities. I hope you get to make that dream come true but I think you have been badly advised, bear responsibility for your own failure to work hard in the classroom and will likely find yourself in an even greater hole when the reality of your slim NFL prospects come into sharper focus
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: McNeal GOING PROI think maybe because we felt like we were given a gift out of nowhere. He wasn't a part of our plan until he showed up on our doorstep.
Re: McNeal GOING PROAnd we would have said the same thing to Emmanuel last year. "We think it's in your interest to stay, but we wish you all the best."
Re: McNeal GOING PROHe fulfilled his obligations to us - he stayed eligible and played excellent. I think it's a bad idea for him to go pro this year, but if he's gotta make some money, he's gotta do what he thinks is best for his family. No reason for us to wish him ill will.
"I think Couchem is right."

Re: McNeal GOING PROGood luck dude.
Re: McNeal GOING PROThis is not good news. I don't think we sniff the Hawaii Bowl last year without this guy. I trust June will get something figured out. My early prediction for next year without Shawnbrey is 6-7 wins. Dang I wish we could of got that Rockwall RB Kendial Lawrence last year that ended up choosing Mizzou over SMU. Oh well, we'll see. Good luck Shawnbrey and thanks for helping us finally get over the hump last year. If you were going to pick one year to be a Mustang you chose a good one!
C-ya @ Milos!
Re: McNeal GOING PROThe guy was the 2009 MVP of this team without question or debate. I know this is driven by his off-field responsibilities primarily, including his mom, but I hope he's making the right call. I have my doubts....
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Re: McNeal GOING PROwell, if he gets drafted, the good news would be having two kids from our offense getting drafted.....can hurt with future recruits, especially at RB and WR.....I say, as I grasp for straws.
Re: McNeal GOING PRO
Harsh but true, I don't see this kid being drafted at all or making a living playing in the NFL. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security
-Benjamin Franklin
Re: McNeal GOING PROso he basically barely made eligibility for Hawaii correct?
Is he Felix Jones size? What is his 40 speed now?
Re: McNeal GOING PROSorry to hear this for you guys.
He really opened my eyes when caught that shovel pass at Amon G. Carter and took it to the house. Kid has got some wheels. I still think yall have plenty of momentum- enough to build on last year rather than take a step back.
Re: McNeal GOING PROHard to belive he is the only 1000 yard rusher in Jones coaching history.
