Re: 12 to 18 months
Rutgers is still the best choice. MAJOR TV market and tremendous academics. Good football and basketball. New Jersey is the second leading producer of D - 1 football talent in the northeast, right behind Pennsylvania.
Re: 12 to 18 monthsOne of MO stated reservations was the loss of the rivalry between itself and Kansas. Certainly they can continue their games with one another. It seems to me that the UT-OU rivalry never suffered during the years of seperate conferences. Am I wrong in that the intesity of the rivaly remained about the same when the Big Twelve was formed? Sure the games mean more in terms of conference championships, but then Kansas and MO aren't especially annual particpants.
Re: 12 to 18 monthsMissou's "other rival" has been Illinois, so I don't think this is a big problem for them. They could continue playing Kansas as a rivalry series...and might even have a chance to win a Big 10 championship once in a while.
Are they going to have to rename both the Big 10 and Big XII if/when this expansion takes place?
Re: 12 to 18 monthsProbably, the Big XII becomes the Big XI and the Big XI, er Big X thus becomes the Big XII....or the former Big XII could become the Soutwest and Midwest Conference.
Re: 12 to 18 months
I guess if there can be an Atlantic Coast and Mountain West conference, maybe there can be "Central Plains" and "Great White North" conferences, too.
