SMU made two appearances in this week's edition:
• A photo from the luau before the Hawaii Bowl of Chris Banjo on stage with one of the hula dancers: "SMU's Chris Banjo is a DB, so no matter the moves the hula dancer tried, he had her covered at a Hawaii Bowl luau."
• Under the heading "Matt Hayes' 10 Things We Learned From The Bowl Season":
1. SMU is the next heavyweight in Conference USA. One of the nation's worst teams spent the money — reportedly $2 million a year — to lure June Jones from Hawaii in January 2008. Two years later, freshman quarterback Kyle Padron was throwing for 460 yards in SMU's first postseason appearance — a 45-10 win over Nevada in the Hawaii Bowl — in 25 years. "I'm sure there were questions why we came here," Jones says. "We're building something here."
Nice to get positive national pub, huh?
