Stockstill would have been a pretty good coach for them. Now it's up in the air.

People here are saying it would be a good first HC job for Gus Mahlzan. Do not know if he is interested, though, or if they would be.

Wow. Staying at MTSU instead of going to ECU? Interesting decision.

I'm a bit surprised, but perhaps he figures he'll hold out for the Tennessee job in a year or two when it opens back up again. If they wanted to go down to 1-AA to find a coach, any of the CAA coaches have a lot of recruiting ability in the mid-Atlantic. Also, AppleBowden would probably be interested.

Its not like he'd be inheriting a program in dire shape if he went to ECU. Coming off back to back C-USA championships and a solid looking future. Why stay at MTSU?

Seems like both ECU and La TEch were interesting in Gus Mahlzan but he told a media outlet yesterday that he was not interested in either job. When he does get a HC job I think he will do very well.

He's got something going at MTSU and might see it as a lateral (non-BCS conference) move

He has developed a nice solid program that will only get better. His next stop wil be a BCS job.
