Joey Fontana bailing out on SMU?

On PonyPride, the headline of the page said he is not back on campus as the semester began Jan. 19.

I don't have subscription, but if he's not here and the leg injury is a major player in this, then you have to wonder if he'll ever come back, quit football or transfer somewhere else to where once the leg is healed, he can still contribute.

Interesting story.

Note: Bailing out is not meant to have any negative connotations toward the kid. I just wanted to use so the puss ball thought police would not feel so offended.

There's a lot of information on Fontana in the story

What does the last sentence of your post mean? Maybe you are missing a word after use? Anyway, you should just subscribe and read the article if you want to know what it says, rather than making guesses based on the headline. As you noted, it is an interesting story - you should read it.

He is trying to by-pass paying for the information and now he is casting his line hoping someone will bite and provide the info he obviously wants but is too cheap to subscribe for.

It's really quite informative and interesting. It's too bad a mustang fan such as yourself is missing out on this info.

I wish Joey the very best on this painful journey. From everything I've read about him he's a fighter and will come out of this a better person.

I absolutely REFUSE to subscribe. Whether or not people want to offer it up, that's their call. I simply made an observation regarding the headline and the first graph of the story.

So far since Scout and Rivals have had their sites up, I haven't subscribed and don't believe I'm really missing too much anyway.

Besides, this stuff comes out sooner or later so I'll just stick with the later part, get that for free, and you guys use your money how you see fit.

Go Vikings!

Still wondering what that last sentence in the first post meant.

It was basically that "I just wanted to use IT....it being the operatve word.

I just can't wait to read the story about who made it as walkons in the spring. I'm counting the days to when it's posted. It's a great day to be a third-teamer on a BCS non-AQ team -- VOMIT!!

Are we also going to get stories on the walk-on 3-point specialist from Arlington Martin and how he....oh, forget it.

If part of your $9 is going toward stuff like that, then you might as well use a shredder and get rid of your money that way.

I'm just disappointed that Fontana is leaving like this. I understand that he is under tremendous family pressure, and that if the Cops can't be kept out of the loop, it will spiral out of control, but really, this is the kind of thing you have to face head-on.

So "it" was "bailing out" and using "bailing out" will keep the thought police from being so offended? What in the world does that mean?

Wuba -- could have been all that cough syrup I took this morning that made me loopy. Don't worry about it.

Let's just hope that Joey Fontana has a long and enriched life in front of him.

see that's where you're wrong-the time to join these days is immediately after signing date-that's when the action at spring days, combines and initial contacts. Rivals and Scout did a good job last spring. The most interesting time in recruiting is March through July these days-that's when the action occurs-that's why you were wondering if was going to be a "Quiet January" everything is just about over but sweeping up the crumbs. Since you are a Texas fan-recruiting for the 2011 season will be basically be over by 45 days after it starts-say March 15, 2010-11 months before signing date. 19 of Texas' 22 commitments came within 45 days of the prior year's signing date. Every school is heading in that direction.

Now, this is the most compelling argument to want to join these web sites. Why can't any of you come up with something like this?

Thanks, I'll take it under advisement.

17 of SMU's 21 commitments came before the team reported for August drills. Things are about to jump
