Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]One scenario I have heard recently: In an effort to prevent poaching from the conference, the MWC would invite SMU, Houston, and Boise State to join the conference. In doing so, you would create a 12-team conference with a north and south division. The north division would include: Utah, BYU, Boise State, Wyoming, Colorado State and Air Force. The south division would include: SMU, TCU, Houston, New Mexico, UNLV, and San Diego State.
The MWC would pick up TV markets in Dallas, Houston and Boise and would have 3 schools that have participated in a total of 4 BCS games (Utah 1, Boise State 2, TCU 1).
Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]I would bet that the big 12 would go after Arkansas before they would go after TCU. They would probably prefer another large state school over a small private school.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]June has said on numerous occasions that he feels our best football is probably two years away. Looking at the schedule we've got some pretty interesting matchups in non-conference play. I seriously cannot fathom how overwhelming it would be to see SMU in a BCS game.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]we are more competitive on the field and in recruiting. We are no where close to a BCS bid until we can get a much better recruiting classes, Maybe in 2011 we'll start getting those kinds of kids when we aren't trying to sell recruits on a 1-11 record, but not at that level yet-we are talking players needed to be in the Top 10 at least in the country.

"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]The guy predicts that all the recent BCS busters and then some will be going to BCS Aq conferences and the MWC becoming one. Kinda takes the gloss off being picked as a BCS buster.

Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]would be nice...but we still have to get into a better conference IMHO
Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]
yeah if everything happens like that guy says, the CUSA west will be pretty much all that's left of it. Hello LaTech and NTSU and UTSA
Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]Well, whatever happens, I want SMU to stay in a conference where the teams are local enough for easy travel. I won't travel to games in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, California ETC. I'll go to games in Texas and adjoining states. One reason I hate C-USA is because of the East division. I have never gone to any away game against the East division teams. My dream is to have a conference of Texas only teams, I'd call it The Texas Conference, or something like that. SMU going BCS? If we can have a great OL, defense and special teams then it might not be so bad. But there is no way I'd want to see SMU go to a BCS bowl and get destroyed like June Jone's 2007-2008 Hawaii team did against Georgia. I've been a JJ fan for a long time and I felt so bad for him and his team in that game.
Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]
don't worry about that. think Boise v Oklahoma or Utah v Alabama
Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]
I think some of JJ's motivation in the Hawaii bowl was to eraser some of the memory of that game. ![]() Go Ponies!!

Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]No way TCU goes to the Big 12. That adds nothing to the conference. I stated before if Missouri bolts for the Big12, the Hogs will be invited to join the conference. That is what Arkansas would prefer. Big alumni base in North Texas, travel is easier for alumni in big 12, and more exposure to Texas recruits. According to some well to do alumni, that is what the Hogs are positioning for.
PONY UP! THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT!!! GO MUSTANGS!
Re: SMU will become the next BCS buster [ESPN]He did say by the end of the decade which means by 2020. That allows LOTS of time to get there...assuming the BCS is still around...and I'm still around to see it. ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S.
