2 words, mike cavanaugh... if SMU lobbys hard and get the school to "buy" coach cav the team will get the best Oline coach in all of college football... and everyone now knows the RnS is unstoppable with a lights out Oline... plus with his connections to JJ im sure he would leave the beavs if JJ came calling w/ a bag full of greens...

I thought we are shooting for top 25, not necesarily top 20.

I'd be comfortable in the 21-25 range myself.

Adrian Klemm is the best O Line coach for JJ's system period. And O Line is the least of our concerns.

maybe maybe not.. but one thing that is for sure is that CAV demands respect and the majority of Olinemen will give coach cav an opportunity to sell them what hes got... Klemm is still green, though he is a up and coming coach, hes still green and none of the prep olinemen think of him as a tool for them to get into the league...

Not sure I agree with you. I'm not trying to belittle Coach Cavanaugh at all, but I would bet the fact that Coach Klemm played in Coach Jones' system and then won a fist full of Super Bowl rings would carry some instantaneous clout with recruits.

if that were the case then why doesnt all top schools just hire ex superbowl winners as their coaches... just cuz they played in the system does not mean they can teach the system, some of the best coaches are coaches who accomplished almost nothing in terms of being a star player... star players usually dont make great coaches because they dont know what its like to be a normal player who doesnt have god given talents...

How can people on here so completely miss the points someone is trying to make! But then, they don't teach logic in schools.

Coach Cav is the best OL coach that JJ had at Hawaii, but Hawaii just could not match the money Oregon State offered. However, Coach Cav has been happy with his working relationship with the other Oregon State coaches and I do not think that he would leave Oregon State that easily. He already makes a good salary at Oregon State (a program with a much bigger budget than SMU) and they gave him an additional title to go along with his OL coach title so he makes extra money.

There is also the matter of how Oregon State's offensive coordinator donated a kidney to Coach Cav's wife to help save her life. The bond among their coaching staff grew even closer after that and I don't think just waving some money around will break that bond.

thanks mustang musashi...interesting....but I think we'll be ok with Coach Klemm.
i bet Coach Klemm will recruit well in the inner city and really everywhere..
he has a certain "coolness" about him that I assume would impress a 17 year old.
