JOEY FONTANA: Long road ahead

Postby PonyPride » Sat Jan 30, 2010 4:12 pm

Just a week before the SMU football team headed to Hawaii for its first bowl game in 25 years, freshman offensive lineman Joey Fontana crumpled to the turf in the waning moments of practice after a teammate rolled into his leg.

It was an event that happens countless times in practices across the country. Many times, no injury occurs. Sometimes a player suffers a sprained knee, or even a torn ligament. Fontana's injury, however, was anything but normal.

Amid conflicting reports about the severity of Fontana's injury, PonyFans.com went to the source. Fontana detailed how the injury occurred, the specifics of the damage, his medical future ... and his prognosis for returning to the field with his SMU teammates.

Good point — the reason he's able to spend time with his family kind of sucks, but I bet they love having you around. Get better soon.
