Good thing I didn't come to Dallas.

Postby i10pony » Sat Nov 01, 2003 5:17 pm

Here's to another season of crappy football. I was going to be in Dallas for homecoming but I partied my [deleted] of last night and woke up at 12pm. Good thing I went to an awesome Halloween party last night. Because I don't think I could handle SMU fball hung over. In two to three years when Bennett is fired what do you guys think his won- loss record will be? I say 13-47. Oh yeah I'm switching between the OKstate-OU and UCLA and Stanford games. Stanford is beating UCLA 21-7. Stanford has just as many freshmen and RS freshman as SMU does.

I think Bennett will still be here in 3-4 years. He needs to slowly upgrade his assistants and immediately get rid of those who fight on the sidelines. That's what I mean when i say he should clean house this year and if he doesn't then Copeland must. I remember how many mistakes Fry made while at SMU as a new head coach. It takes time to build a staff and get the recruits. If Bennett isn't our answer, no one who would take the job today is either unless you just get really lucky in a needle in a haystack type search. Let's pray that Bennett grows into the job as others like Fry did. At least we haven't seen tings like the young Fry's Flying Wishbone or the famous fake quick kick yet.

Fry could coach and win one game as good as anybody from day one. When have we seen potential for the future wiht Bennett?

I don't see any potential in Bennett. The guy coaches not to lose. He doesn't coach to win. Somebody tell me if my rationale is wrong. Bennett knows he has marginal D1 talent yet he runs the same type of offense that K-State runs. There is a big difference between K-State's talent and SMU's talent not to mention each of the teams ability to execute. Whats the harm of opening the offense up or running the spread or wishbone.

K-State's offense is more option-based than ours. We run too many betwee-the-tackles plays, but might bounce it outside more if we had a faster RB. That's not a slight against Kincade - he's been nothing short of heroic in the way he keeps going and going and going ....

OldPony is right - he needs to upgrade his staff while his talent base grows and matures. Like OP said, he needs to be given a chance to grow into his job, just like Fry.

Beat LaTech - AGAIN!
