With our new recruits set to be announced tomorrow and also having red shirts and transfers available , where do you see the biggest battle for a starting spot , QB , RB , OL (C) , LB ? any others ?

Since we had a lot of wr's coming in I would say that and safety.

DB and LB
Also WR. ES is gone. And Wilkerson didnt stun me this year. He was good but there is a few Redshirt Freshman guys and a ton of true freshman guys that could maybe fight for his spot. Although in my opinion the Redshirt freshman have a much better chance of replacing him than the true freshman since the offense is so complicated. I hope Darius looks good in the spring!

Can't wait to get the WRs into the mix. I really hope Guinyard is 100% because if he is -he is the steal of the SMU Class. Jeremy Johnson will probably take a little bit to adjust to a new position.

WR will be real interesting. I'm excited to see how the RB situation turns out as well. Safety will be a good competition, but I have a good feeling it will be Chris Banjo and Justin Sorrell

I would expect a battle for about 11 of the 22 starting spots

We need depth and not just starters to get through a long season. Our defense played gallantly all year but was running on fumes at the end before getting some rest and dominating in the bowl. Hopefully this class will help but it still seems we are lacking depth at a few positions. Losing two big-time playmakers means we might have to spread it around a little more.

One of the few times I agree with you.

Possibly the middle part of our O-line, center & guards. With Gottschalk coming in, and both McJunkin and Tennison with some experience at center, we have some options for putting together the best combination for O-line.
Secondary is also going to have a couple spots up for grabs, as we lost Rock & McCann.
But given the young talent we picked up last year, and a couple guys that signed today, wide receiver competition should be very, very interesting.

Agree, but I am hopeful that the offense will be able to put the defense in a better spot next season with fewer turnovers, longer drives, and putting up enough points to force the opposing offense to throw the ball.
