Interesting reads on the TCU Board..Geez, they hate us...can you blame 'em

Let's talk football. SMU has had one winning season and no bowl appearances since coming back from the Death Penalty in 1989. SMU draws fewer than 20,000 fans per game according to the school's own count. I've read on this board that there might have been 3,000 fans at the Boise State game. Maybe not that many. Tulsa beat A&M circa 1990 and might have played in a bowl or two in the late '80s and early '90s, but it's been a while since the Hurricane, um, blew anybody away on the gridiron. Rice, I like. It's a great university, absolutely world class. The football team is struggling this year, but of those three schools, Rice has easily the most respectable program. Rice has some eight-win seasons in its recent past and should have been to at least a couple of bowls within the last few years.

Posted: Nov 1 2003, 02:41 PM It's true, though, that we moved to C-USA IN PART to distance ourselves from the shame of the MWC breakup and the poor perception of the WAC among fans and media types nationwide. Now, it appears that we're going to jump right back into bed with three schools we worked hard to get away from. That's very, very bad for our image. Meanwhile, freaking Louisville, Cincy and USF (!!) are going to a (for now) BCS conference. Is this our reward for all our hard work and success? If it is, I'm more than disappointed. I'm absolutely gutted.

I realize that they have not won a game this year, but the fan support was pretty bad, and it was their Homecoming. I think there were more students in the band than the rest of the students in attendance.

For the most part there was absolutely no enthusiasm by whatever fans were there. If you bought an end zone ticket you could have sat on the 50 yard line, and in the shade.

As for SMU itself, they played a decent first half, but Fresno's QB was absolutely pathetic. I think he was 2 for 17 for 4 yards. Fresno played a little better in the second half, but they aren't near the team that TCU played when we were in the WAC.

I guess watching two really bad teams in person was better than sitting at home watching OU beat up on OSU on tv, but not much.

Spreaking for myself and probably most TCU fans, I think we would rather see you guys in our final game at 7-3 instead of 0-10 or 11. A competitive rivalry with good games is much better then a lopsided one I believe.

I doubt TCU fans have a 10th of the resentment toward SMU then we do towards Baylor, A&M or UT.

We are in this thing together. You guys are getting screwed by the BCS just like us so we need all non-BCS schools to get some quality wins.

look - it will happen - not this yr nor next but 3-4 yrs it will...we've already established smu draws when we win just like 'all' the big-city teams so that's no longer an issue...when the wins come so will the fans.

You guys are our rival, we love to get on you, as you do us, but in reality all we want is what you want also. TCU vs SMU on natl. TV, both ranked, sold out stadium, winner takes the CUSA West championship! Hey don't laugh, it is coming!

well spoken... I doubt seriously that the average fan for any school (incluing SMU) is respresent by the jibba jabba talkin' suckas on web boards

...it is the domain of bitter old men and $hittalkin' college geeks
