Johnny's thoughts about Saturday . . .I will quit speaking in the third person since many of you find it annoying. However, I will not stop speaking truths. As many of you know, I do not 'suger coat' my opinions on this board. First, I thought the team played its butt off. The players were enthusiastic on the sidelines, which was refreshing. The defense was incredible. The offense, as usual, was too predictable, and inconsistent. As many of you are wondering, why did Bennett pull Phillips? He made some of our biggest plays. As with any Freshman, he will make mistakes, but please let him play through them. Wallis plays hard, but he always makes mistakes, i.e., fumbles. If Phillips does not start the rest of the season and play all of the snaps, then Bennett gets strike one in my book. Second, I was extremely disappointed in the attendance. It was homecoming and we only drew 14K--embarressing and inexcusable. A winless season will do that for you. Third, if SMU does not change its past ways with its admission policies and view towards division 1 athletics, we will be forced out of division 1 entirely. Many of you are in denial about this, but trust me. Changes must be made and made soon. Fourth, to all posters on this board, bring as many people possible to the Rice game. We need to have a strong attendance figure for the Rice game. It will be our last chance for a win this season.
Re: Johnny's thoughts about Saturday . . .I am under the impression that the admissions policies HAVE been changed, but only 2 years ago.
It is going to take a few more classes to prove this out.
Re: Johnny's thoughts about Saturday . . .That's the thing Johnny, the admissions policies were changed 2 years ago. You keep bringing this up and I don't understand it. It isn't just crying over spilt milk, it is crying over spilt milk when the mess has been cleaned up with a sponge and you've been given a brand new glass. Granted, there still appear to be barriers to bringing in jucos, but changing those restrictions (a change I'd support) will involve more than "flipping a switch" or a single change in policy. Other than that part of your post, I agree with what you are saying. Defense played great. Phillips should get every snap. 14,000 at homecoming is an embarassment. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Johnny's thoughts about Saturday . . .Nice try but the fact is that almost every team we have played has signed JUCO players since that change in the policy who have helped their team considerably in beating SMU. The statute of limitations on the administration's excuses ran out 10 years ago. Go sell those excuses somewhere else because I expect a competently run program 15 years after the DP.

Re: Johnny's thoughts about Saturday . . .Trust me, I am not trying to make excuses. I want this policy changed, too. I have no problem with Bennett bringing in 6, 12 or 25 jucos next year if he believes it is in the best interests of the program. I was merely pointing out that, from what I have read on this and the other board, that admitting jucos at this time involves jumping a lot of hurdles, which aren't entirely excusive to the athletic department, i.e. no college of education and no P.E. or kineseology major. If I thought Copeland or Bennett could solve those problems in a day by themselves, I'd be upset with them. But since they can't, I guess I have to demand that Turner create the Laura Bush College of Education. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. Re: Johnny's thoughts about Saturday . . .Call me nuts, but I'd rather win in the fall than on Signing Day. Keylon Kincade wasn't rated highly by recruiting experts. Neither was Allan Adami or Alvin Nnabuife. Or Jay'Mond Cleveland or Reynaldo Pellerin. It's decided on the field. This team will get better. Stick with 'em.
Re: Johnny's thoughts about Saturday . . .There is no ban on JUCOs,per se, the BB team has had several and this year we had one on the FB team.
Re: Johnny's thoughts about Saturday . . .Johhny Rock, for the first time, I agree with everything you have said. You pulled out some great points there.
Hey everyone, think about what he just said :hmm: Hang in there bro!
Re: Johnny's thoughts about Saturday . . .Yeah that's right Keylon Kincade and Allen Adami like the rest of their class were not highly recruited but turned out to be all-conference type players and we still haven't won a game all. The Exception does not prove the Rule. I rest my case.
