If there is one coach in Dallas who sleeps under the warm blanket of job security, it's June Jones. This week, he was the star attraction at the SMU Football Coaches Appreciation Dinner.
Not surprisingly, considering SMU's recent bowl win in Hawaii, demand was high for one of the 60 seats at Bob's Steak & Chop House on Lemmon Avenue.
June and his coaching staff talked about recruiting, as well as the outlook for next season with boosters who paid big dollars for the privilege.
Among those boosters were two of the biggest: SMU board chair Carl Sewell and his predecessor, former board chair Jerry Ford.
Even after the official program was over, June stayed on in Bob's bar, holding court and generally charming Mustang enthusiasts.
