JJ is known to give kids a scholarship and a 2nd chance. UH turned this kid down because of his "attitude". I dont think UH is in the position to turndown playmakers... Well, as it turns out Kenny Turner took a recruiting visit to SMU last week, i think.. I hope he ends up a mustang...
If I were Klemm, I'd want to look at two of their O-lineman. I can't tell their heights/weights, but a couple of those guys can move. On a couple of plays, one of their guards pulls fast outside to the edge and seals (either inside or outside...is different each play) allowing Turner to adjust and cut through the hole.

well it sounds like SMU is activily recruitng him. He looks good on video, sees the hole real well, catches, can block and he says the right things about getting his degree and the importance of school. He appearantly carried a pretty heavy school load this past fall and finished with a very respectable GPA. That was enough to convinced SMU to pursue him. Hope he comes here. It would be nice to have Turner and Fields this fall.

It wouldn't be the 1st time SMU gave a guy a 2nd chance. Who was the guy who got in trouble while at OSU - Alex Odiari? He didn't work out, but I don't recall it being because of his "troubled" past. Have to trust JJ on whichever way this goes. He knows it is his reputation and SMU's at stake.
I think we all notice that the kids that play at SMU all seem to be good kids and not trouble makers. They seem to be a close football family that looks out for one another. JJ and the staff are not going to bring idiot trouble makers. Turner has invested alot of time getting his studies, credits and GPA in order to get accepted and has said he knows his education is the most important thing and would like to get a chance to go pro, but also knows it's fleeting. He sounds like a good guy that knows he has one school opportunity and will not let it go to waste, notwithstanding the fact that he is one outstanding football player. That 7 minute clip of him running is so freaky good, and looks like a Mcneal on steroids.

I thought one of our kids was an accused rapist? When he was at Hawaii JJ reportedly told a reporter that he got some of his best players out of the Honolulu jails. If JJ thinks he can put a kid on the straight and narrow I won't argue with him.

C'mon...the key point is 'an accused' rapist..and that can happen in any college situation (including the frat students) and doesn't show an established pattern for Pittman, who has never been in trouble before.

Are you aware of a pattern in Kenny Turner's behavior? I have not seen anything indicating a pattern.

Point taken, we don't know what happened, but JJ deemed the allegation serious enough to suspend the young man from the team. Obviously I hope that Torlan is innocent and I hate to think that an innocent person is being punished.
This is SMU, not UT, so hopefully these incidnts will be few and far between.

I have not been following this closely but I do not recall any allegation that Turner had ever been in trouble before his incident at 16 years old or that he had an "established pattern" of being in trouble.

I have not read any article about Kenny Turner's attitude being bad. In fact, Richard Crawford had some good things to say about him in this article. Here is the link (free):
