I hope the bashers of Dickerson and especially James will note the part about the previous ADs keeping them "at arms length". These legends were told to stay away by previous ADs and Phil Bennett in order that they not tarnish the atmosphere. If either of them ever said anything negative (which I have not heard them do directly) it is hard to blame them when we turned our backs on them. I welcome them back and am very proud they are part of our history.

As for the early-80s glory teams being kept "at arms length" before Orsini got here, didnt' SMU honor the '82 team at a game in '02?

wasnt aware that PB told them to stay away. What a horrible decision. I remember during the first season at Oklahoma for Stoops, one of the first things he did was to bring back the old school Sooners and have them on the sideline. Even WWE commentator Jim Ross was out there.
This is a celebrity-starved country we live in. Increase the profile of your program by having higher profile people surround it.
