A lot has been said about this already...

The Good - the defense. The run defense was good but the pass defense was great, yeah despite possible missed ints. I wonder if there was something wrong with Pinegar. Especially after all that throw deep hype from Fresno. Punting was good. There was a big improvement on penalties.

The Bad - offense in general. Despite KK's good average and total yards: 28-136, 4.86 ypc, his fumble cost a possible TD, then again maybe not. :confused:

you can even go farther than that. I blame the Coach for even keeping Tate at QB even at the start of the season. I don't think Tate has shown the skills that would indicate he has a future as a Division 1A QB. The decision should have been made at the start of the year to move him to SS or TE or somewhere else. Then Phillips or 1 of the 2 Freshmen QBs could have been groomed as the 2nd stringer. That's what many are forgetting-Phillips is unprepared because he didn't get reps as a 3rd stringer so instead of preparing for our future we are wasting snaps on a guy with ZERO Division 1A potential at QB.

I just don't get it. The most excited I got in the game was the one time Phillips threw the ball deep. Wasn't close but, it was at least a chance.

As I understood it, Wallis & Phillips had an equal # of series, but Wallis got more snaps because his drives lasted longer. Still, his I'm-gonna-hold-this-ball-till-I-die sacks and fumbles killed us. God bless him, get him out of there.

Not much of a chance. This is where we really miss Cody. Cody could get seperation...I haven't seen any of our WR's get any seperation from the DB's except for maybe the tall freshmen WR's.

And this to me is a real problem. Even if we bring in a junior college QB, who is he going to throw to?

And more importantly, if we don't bring some people in who can pass block, that juco QB will be throwing a lot of passes from his butt, which is illegal.

I must agree with the implication of some of these comments. The offensive line got whipped on many plays. Improvement is needed. That is another reason you do not put Wallis back there.

I would add punt coverage to the 'ugly' list. It was that bad. I might add the offensive line play to 'ugly' also, which as been a problem since before Josh McCown had the job. Thats what lead me to speculate about Phillips playing after the Baylor game where plays had no time to develop and Bartel had to throw off his back foot and on the run, neither his strong suits.

What I want to know is, are these indications that we have an inexperienced first time head coach or just a bad coach?

Regarding the offensive line, I'd say personnel. It has been a patchwork job all season.

Regarding the punt coverage, that was really bad at the start of the season but it improved. Many of the things that go wrong in the game get addressed in practised and improved if following game performance is any indication (subject to injuries of course.)

Regarding game time decisions and QB selection decisions, I think that is first time head coach symptoms. I hope so.

The coach does not fumble the ball but if he puts the "experienced" QB back in who does it vs. the raw but talented freshman who does not, then that is getting to be a blind spot.

Bennett is very concenerned about the confidence level in his QB's particularly Phillips - he does not want to throw Phillips to the wolves and make him skitish like Bartel got. Personally I think that is a mistake and that Phillips is in a no lose position this year - his mobility is our only real weapon. Lord knows when we play TCU someone better be ready to sprint out - there will not be a pocket.
