SMU Spring Sports

Postby deepellumfrog » Mon Feb 22, 2010 6:00 pm

Now that basketball is working it's way to a close (scoreboard btw), what sport at SMU do you follow during the spring? No- spring football doesn't count. I am excited about the Frogs baseball team, and am hoping for a trip to Omaha, but I was wondering what spring teams at SMU get the most support.

For me, college baseball teams here in Southern Calif. & my sons HS baseball team. If SMU had a team, we'd definitely be going back for some games being that my son wants to play college baseball. So answer to your question. unfortunately nothing as for SMU right now.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

I can't think of anything that has ever been mentioned, which is why I ask. That and it seemed like a reasonable pass the time topic during the off season. I literally have no idea..

I say we start a petition to bring back baseball at SMU. Maybe this time around we could figure out what we're doing and actually have a pretty good team.

I think you mean start a petition to bring back baseball and raise enough money to fund baseball and softball.

Have you totally forgotten about Title IX? Can't have one without the other. :(
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Nice going, deepellumfrog — see what you've started (for the umpteenth time)?

Spring sports:
Spring football (following a bowl champion, no less)
Basketball as long as we're still alive
Offseason NFL
NHL playoffs!

There are some posters here who turn your nose up at the club sports, but the Men's Lacrosse team is very competitive. I played my freshman and sophomore year before switching to Rugby, but there are excellent coaches in place now with a ton of East Coast talent and great players from around the country(California, Texas, Missouri, etc). If you are in the Dallas area I would definitely check out their next game.

Let's see. Nationally ranked Tennis and golf both Men's and women's. Women's track always fun. Sailing- sit on the bank of a lake and get a tan. We have lots of spring sports. And of course spring football and soccer. I'll make a deal with you Deepellum. When TCU takes up men's soccer as a competitive (not club) sport, we'll take up baseball (and softball plus a minor women's sport like bowling or archery).
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
