Excellent article, which describes the realities of being a BCS candidate for BYU.

Perhaps lessons to consider for SMU and/or implications, if and when PAC 10 and others expand. I believe the PAC 10 moves would be more infuential for our prospects than the Big 10 options for expansion, such as Missouri.

BYU's best hope is in replacing a Big 12 team that departs from the North.

This article is nothing but the self-love of a BYU supporter, as he is even wearing a BYU sweater in his profile picture and lists BYU among his favorite teams. His arguments are ridiculous, right down to his suggestion that BYU would be better in the MWC in the event that the MWC becomes a BCS AQ. I tell you, anyone that thinks rejecting the Pac-10 and remaining in the MWC is beneficial is an utter moron. This is simply the author's attempt to at once beg the Pac-10 for membership while simultaneously claiming that BYU did not want to join to begin with.

Furthermore, his argument that BYU's offers a top 20 market in Salt Lake City is simply wrong, as it actually ranks 31(http://www.tvb.org/rcentral/markettrack/us_hh_by_dma.asp).

If the Pac-10 was content to settle for BYU it could have done so 20 years ago. This "writer's" whining can never change that.

Followed the link in that story to the 1992 SI story on why everyone hates BYU. Among other things, those that serve church missions have 7 years to play 4, vs 5 to play 4 everywhere else. Any way SMU can get Perkins to sponsor 2 year missions? Get a kid on campus, a year in the system, 2 year mission, come back, redshirt, play three more years. We'd be set..
