Remembering the SWC

I grew up with the SWC. I'll never forget Kern Tipps. The SWC is one of the reasons I went to SMU. It's really too bad that it died. That's the problem with TV and greed.

One great thing about the SWC was that we all knew each other. If you worked in any large office building in Dallas back in those days there were alums or fans of every school somewhere on your floor. (Except sometimes Rice). Every weekend there was plenty to talk about and a lot of interest in office pools etc. Good friendly rivalries.

The other great thing was that no road game required airline tickets. We could load up the car with beer and a thermos of bloody marys and be anywhere within a few hours.
