Nice to hear about the coaches turnout

Coach Reinebold mentioned on Facebook that the North Texas High School Association had a clinic at Ford Stadium yesterday. I thought that SMU fans might be interested in hearing how the turnout went. From Lopaka Ornellas (who does video for the football team and was with JJ in Hawaii):

We had a high school coaches clinic last night. We set-up the rooms for about 100 coaches. I think double that amount showed up.

When we discussed the figures from the WFAA special on SMU last night, Lopaka added this info about the importance of the bowl win:

Besides those things you mentioned, the perception of the program has changed exponentially. Going into the game, everyone had the attitude of "what a nice story, 1st bowl in 25 years" but after the win, all of a sudden everyone is saying "we are a team to watch out for". Recruiting this year compared to the 1st was like night and day, and with this next class, which we are already starting to send offers to, we are starting to see the real change. We are beating out big-time schools to a few recruits.

Amazing what 1 game can do.

Thanks for posting, Garrett.

The WFAA show said there has been a 34% or so uptick in prospective student applications. You've gotta think a big majority of the increase are football and sport fans in general...I'd love to see an energized student body

Beat the drum...
NG's and DT's please.

This staff is the best we have had since 1988 and SMU likes them and the staff is treated well.

This program will build back to being nationally competitive and it will be done the right way.
