ahh-that's Tennesse Tech University. This according to several reports on the Frog Forum. I bet its not really their fault-nobody wants to play them but this [deleted] really is annoying.

TCU probably could have gotten a better game if they wanted to do a one and done on the road. They did that with Clemson last year. Patterson and most other coaches like having one D-Two "pre-season" game on the schedule. Seriously, college football has to do something about these crap games that all the programs are adding. Some major conference teams like Arizona State have two D-two teams on the schedule. You only get credit for one win over D2 teams per season for bowl eligibility. I don't know why any D1 program with 85 plus scholarship atheltes should get any credit at all for beating essentially a commuter college's team.

West Coast Johnny - you mean FCS team, not D2. No D2 wins count towards bowl eligibility so no teams schedule D2 teams. FCS wins only count if that FCS team gives a full compliment of scholarships (Stallion can correct me if I'm wrong - I think it's 63). That's why you don't see teams scheduling games against Ivy League teams - Ivy League schools don't give any athletic scholarships so beating them would not count towards bowl eligibility.

Actually, I probably should have said Division One AA. The D2 reference was a brain fart. I hate the FBS & FCS designation, so I don't use them.

And here I thought West Coast was knowingly using the term D-2 just to annoy 1-AA fans, that is so disappointing

Nicholls state beat Rice a few years ago. We almost got beat by both Texas state and SFA in the last 2 years . JJ got beat by Portland State in his second year at Hawaii. Didnt maryland recently get beat by an FCS team? Jacksonville State lead Florida State late in the fourth this year. Montana beat Colorado 2 years ago. Every year several D-1 teams get beat by FCS teams.

Northwestern State (LA) beat TCU back in 2001. On parents weekend no less. I wish we could have TxTech on the schedule also, but I don't want TCU playing 7 road games a year. Even if two are in the metroplex. It's bad enough that UF can get 8 home games, so I don't want TCU to get into the habit of playing 5 a year at AGCS.

It isn't several, but about 8% of the time, last time I looked at the actual stats. And there are more such games since the 12 game schedule became permanent. Virginia lost to William and Mary last year. There were a couple of others last year, I believe. I think we have averaged 3 I-AA victories in the last three years.
