Dear Friend:

I am writing you today to let you know about a couple of exciting events that will really help SMU Football. On April 23 and 24, we will be hosting the Second Annual Jerry LeVias Lettermen Golf Classic and the SMU Mustang Football 2009 Celebration. Super Bowl XLIV Champion and former SMU Football Letterman, Thomas Morstead will serve as the Honorary Chairman for both events. All proceeds from these two events will directly benefit our football program.

The Second Annual Jerry LeVias Lettermen Golf Classic will be held on April 23 at the Golf Club of Dallas. Jerry’s contribution to SMU, our country and the game of football are significant. In addition to being the first African-American to play in the Southwest Conference, he was recognized as an All-American, academically and athletically and went on to have an impressive NFL career.

The field will be limited to 36 teams made up of four players with a Scramble Format. Each player will receive an Adidas Golf Shirt, sleeve of golf balls and a team picture. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, longest drive and closest to the pin. Golf starts on Friday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. at The Golf Club of Dallas. We anticipate another sold out Tournament, so please get your Registration Form in today.

The Mustang Football 2009 Celebration will be held on April 24 at 6:00 p.m. at the InterContinental Hotel in Dallas. This will be a great opportunity to celebrate the most successful football season in more than 25 years! During the celebration we will present the team with their Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Championship Rings, and we’ll recognize the Offensive MVP, the Defensive MVP and the Special Teams MVP for 2009. We will also announce the player who will wear jersey number “23” during the 2010 season. Just as we started the tradition last year, the player chosen will wear number “23” to honor Dr. Jerry LeVias.

Since these events will serve as our primary fundraiser for SMU Football, I ask that you please consider one of the several sponsor packages we have available.
